"We just need to check that you are over 18"

What is over-asking?

A relying party over-asks when it requests more attributes than its purpose requires. Getting into a club only needs an "age over 18" check, not who you are or where you live.

What this request asks for

  • needed Age over 18
  • extra Given name & family name
  • extra Street, postal code & city

What to look for in your wallet

  1. Click "Join Guest List" and scan the QR code
  2. Review the list of requested attributes
  3. Notice that name and address are not needed for an age check
  4. Decline the request, or share and see what the club gets
🔒 Data minimisation

Under the GDPR, a service may only request the data it needs. A registration certificate lets the wallet check which attributes a relying party registered for and warn you about anything beyond that.
